THE DISTRIBUTION PATTERN AND EVOLUTION MECHANISM OF WINTER PALEOCURRENTS IN SOUTH CHINA SEA SINCE LATE PLEISTOCENE

摘要: 总结了前人对南海12个岩心的U37k'法所反演的古海表温度,结合晚更新世以来典型地质时期南海海洋环境记录,探讨了晚更新世(120 kaBP)以来南海冬季表层古海流分布格局及其演变机制。结果显示:南海冰期与间冰期冬季的表层古海流存在明显差异,冰期冷性海流势力强盛,表层海流呈逆时针环流;间冰期暖性海流势力较强,表层海流呈双向穿越流。黑潮势力的变化对南海的表层海流性质与格局起重要作用。Abstract: This paper explores the distribution pattern and evolution mechanism of surface paleo-currents in winter since Late Pleistocene (120 kaBP) using U37k',combined with the marine environment records of the South China Sea (SCS). The results show that the surface paleocurrents in winter time are of significant difference between glacial and interglacial periods. In the glacial period, the cold currents were stronger and the surface movement was dominated by an anticlockwise circulation; In the interglacial period, however, the warm currents were stronger and the surface water movement showed a pattern of bilateral crossing current. The changes in the Kuroshio force played a key role in the nature and pattern of the surface currents of SCS.
