Abstract:
There are six types of vanadium deposits in China: sedimentary, magmatic, sedimentary metamorphic, volcanic, weathering, and hydrothermal types, among which the sedimentary and magmatic types of vanadium deposits play a leading role of the vanadium resources in China. Sedimentary vanadium deposits are mainly located at the northern margin of Tarim platform, northern and southeastern margins of Yangtze platform, while magmatic vanadium deposits are mainly located at the Emei Mountain large igneous province, Tarim large igneous province, and northern margin of the North China Craton. Vanadium ore is abundant in China, while the overall utilization rate is relatively low. Sedimentary vanadium ore is seldom used because of its low grade, high mining costs, and environmental protection policies. Vanadium-titanium magnetite of magmatic vanadium ores is the main raw material of vanadium. Strengthening the mining, technical research, and environmental protection of sedimentary vanadium ore, as well as continue to increase the comprehensive utilization of vanadium resources in magmatic vanadium-titanium magnetite are suggested as ways to realize green, high-quality, high-efficiency, and economic utilization of vanadium ore resources in China.
