《海洋地质与第四纪地质》的独特性, 在于两大学科的相互结合。为纪念期刊创刊40周年，本文回顾了两大学科在中国联合发展的历史，并讨论其未来的前景。
Abstract:The present journal is unique in its combination of two prominent science disciplines: Marine geology and Quaternary geology. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the paper reviews the history of joint development of the two disciplines in China, with a discussion on its prospects in the future.
